Santi Giraldo began his third tournament of the season at the ATP 250 in Quito, Ecuardor, facing the Spanish Albert Montanés, number 102 in the ranking. In the game that took place at noon, Giraldo was surpassed with (1)6-7 5-7 in an hour and thirty three minutes.
It was a complex match from the beginning. Santi started with a break against, managed to recover and take the set with a 3-3 score. He then tied the first set defined in the tiebreak, where the Spanish overcame with a 7-1 score.
In the second set Santi had break options that didn’t sum up. On the contrary, in the 11th game of the second tie, after various options, Montanés got the match point that gave him a place in the quarterfinals.
With this result Santi is preparing for the ATP 250 in Sao Paulo. The Colombian entered as second seed of the tournament that gathers 32 players of the main square. The Club Jacarandá is the host of the first edition of the Quito Open, a new stadium with capacity for three thousand people.
