After the outstanding achievement teaming up with the Uruguayan Pablo Cuevas, Santi Giraldo faced the couple that has been recently classified to the Masters of London 2014, the Spanish Marcel Granollers and Marc López.

The Spanish players were classified among the 8 best couples of the year after defeating Juan Sebastián Cabal and Robert Farah on a very tight match that ended up with scores of 6-3 and 7-6(4).

Giraldo and Cuevas got to the Masters 1000 of Bercy as alternates and have been the great revelation of the tournament on doubles by defeating the team number 3 of the ATP: Alexander Peya and Bruno Soares.

The match lasted about an hour and ended up with scores of 3-6 and 2-6 on Granollers-López’s favor.

On the first set, Granollers and López took the lead by breaking the serve of the Colombian-Uruguayan couple, but Pablo and Santi reacted and retook the game; finally the set ended up with scores of 6-3 on the Spanish couple’s favor.

On the second set, the Spanish kept the same pace and took advantage of two breaks to win the set and the match with a powerful 6-2.

This way Santi closes his season on singles with even results, 29 victories and 29 defeats, getting out of it what has been his best season, where he reached the 28th place of the ATP world ranking, taking in count his second final on the circuit, the ATP 500 of Barcelona.

On doubles, he closes this season with an outstanding performance at this year’s Masters 1000 of Paris.

Now Santi is getting ready for the 2015 season, where he will seek to keep on growing.
