The Colombian player faced one of the local players, the young Matteo Donati who received a Wild Card to participate in the tournament from the Main Draw; a place usually not allowed for players on his spot in the ranking (275th).

The match lasted around two hours, with scores of 6-2, 1-6 and 4-6 on the Italian player’s favor.

The first set was on Santi’s side, who scored two breaks and only gave away two points with his serve; this way he finished the set with a powerful 6-2.

On the second set Santi diminished his pace, allowing Donati to score a break in two of the six chances he had, while Santi couldn’t score in any of the two chances he had.

Everything settled at the third set, where Santi shows a better performance but, at the time of scoring a break, he couldn’t take the both chances he had, just the one. Matteo managed to break Santi’s serve once again and that way he moved to the R2.

Santi remains waiting for his next participation at the Geneva ATP 250, where he will be playing on singles.
