The Colombian player, next to the Australian Marcus Daniell, played against the seeded number 4 of the tournament, Mate Pavic and Michael Venus, in the quarterfinal of doubles.
The score was 6-2 and 6-4 on favor of the Santi and Marcus duo, in a match that lasted about an hour.
In the beginning of the match, Santi and Marcus went hard and scored a break point in the first game; they were consistent on their serve, they won the 76% of the points in dispute and saved a break point chance against them. They broke Pavic and Venus’ serve just to win the first set by 6-2.
All was even in the second set; Santi and Marcus were one break point down (1-3) but managed to score two breaking points and took the set by 6-4.
This way, Santi and Marcus move to semifinals where they will play against the seeded number 1 of the tournament, the couple formed by Jurgen Melzer and Robert Lindstedt.
