On his second match, at Geneva, Santi played against Mikhail Youzhny, native to Moscow, who is currently in the 70th place of the ranking; however he managed to place himself among the top 10 when he reached the 8th place back in the 2008 season.

The match lasted about an hour and a half with scores of 6-4 and 6-4 on the Colombian player’s favor.

The first set was a difficult one for Santi as it started with a break against him and looked hard to overcome. Nonetheless, Santi started to throw some powerful hits and got back on his feet.

When the scoreboard showed 4-4, the match was suspended due to bad weather. When it resumed, Santi continued with the same pace and scored a new break to take the first game by 6-4.

On the second set, at the fifth game, Santi managed to score a break and move to the top after avoiding two break points from his opponent. Next, each player scored a break and Santi served to win the match by a double score of 6-4.

This way, Santi moves forward to the quarterfinals where he will play against the winner from the match between Marin Cilic and Andrey Rublev.
