Just this Wednesday, the Colombian player beat Spaniard Marcel Granollers, 35th position of the world ranking and 4th favorite to win the tournament; this Friday during quarterfinals, Giraldo also defeated Spaniard Guillermo García López, 56th position of the world ranking and 7th favorite of the event, by 3-6, 6-4 and 6-2. The Colsanita’s tennis player assured his position among the top 4 of the event, where he will await to face the winner of the match between Spaniard Daniel Gimeno-Traver (85th position) and Argentinian Leonardo Mayer (91st position). This is their 4th competed match, and the numbers sheds two victories for the Spaniard and one for the Colombian. Giraldo won in 2011 during the Gstaad ATP on Switzerland, and Garcia Lopez won during 2011’s Paris Masters 1000 and 2014 Auckland ATP 250. This is one of the greatest achievements on Giraldo’s sporting career because the category of the event and the opponents defeated.
