After the tour through Asia and the achievements in Shenzhen, Beijing and Shanghai, Santi returns to Europe to look for new victories at the ATP 500 of Valencia. Santi’s first match in Spain was on doubles where he teamed up with the Austrian Oliver Marach. He just played at the ATP 250 of Vienna, where the German/Austrian team formed by Andre Begemann and Julian Knowle beated him and his partner Scott Lipsky.
The game started around 11am, Colombia Time Zone (UTC-05:00), The winner was the Tecau/Roger team with scores of 4-6 and 4-6 in a match that lasted about an hour.
Oliver Marach is a versatile player and manages to create teams with a good chemistry; this time along with the Colombian, he displayed the best of his technique against the couple formed by the Romanian Horia Tecau and the Dutch Jean-Julien Rojer who played against Santi in the semifinals of the ATP 250 of Shenzen. Tecau and Roger are on the 8th place of the ATP ranking.
The next round for Santi will be in singles against the 14th place of the world, the Spanish Bautista Agut. The match will take place around 8am, Colombia Time Zone (UTC-05:00).
The Valencia Tournament counts with 20 editions in a row, showing first-level tennis since 1995. The Ágora, located at the Ciudad de las Artes y las Ciencias (City of Arts and Science), hosts the tournament since 2009, adopting since then the 500 category status in the ATP.
